HBCU Women’s Basketball Team Achieves First Win in Two Months
Delaware State University’s women’s basketball team celebrated a significant milestone on Thursday night. After enduring a challenging two-month period, they secured their first win in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) with a decisive 67-47 victory against South Carolina State University. This victory ended a frustrating 12-game losing streak for the Hornets.
Breakthrough in Performance
The win marked the Hornets’ first overall success since defeating St. Mary’s College (MD) 83-38 on November 22. Nykesha Sanders, a transfer from East Texas A&M, led the team with an impressive performance, scoring 17 points. She made five of her seven attempts from beyond the arc.

Other players also made vital contributions. Freshman guard Amya Scott added 11 points, while sophomore forward Ericka Huggins chipped in with 10 points, solidifying the team’s scoring effort.
