Trump Skips Super Bowl, Criticizes Bad Bunny and Green Day

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Donald Trump announced he will not attend Super Bowl LX scheduled for February 8 in Santa Clara, California. Trump explained that the location is “too far away” but hinted at his past popularity at the event, noting, “I’ve got great hands at the Super Bowl. They like me.”

Trump Criticizes Super Bowl Halftime Performers

During his interview, Trump took aim at the Super Bowl performers, Bad Bunny and Green Day. He described their selection as a “terrible choice,” suggesting it only promotes division. Both artists have been outspoken critics of Trump, leading to his firm stance against them.

Bad Bunny’s Concerns and Green Day’s Revisions

Bad Bunny, a prominent reggaeton artist, chose not to perform in the continental United States during his 2022 tour due to fears that ICE raids could endanger his fans. His vocal opposition to Trump has garnered mixed reactions.

Green Day, known for their political lyrics, has also modified their songs to express disapproval of Trump. During live performances, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has replaced the lyric “redneck agenda” with “MAGA agenda” in their hit song “American Idiot.”

NFL’s Response

Despite the criticism, the NFL remains steadfast in supporting its choice of performers. NFL Chief Marketing Officer Tim Ellis addressed the controversy, stating, “There’s a lot of people right now who don’t like Bad Bunny being in the Super Bowl halftime show. Well, not everyone has to like everything we do. Bad Bunny is f—ing awesome.”

Last year, Trump attended Super Bowl LIX, where he faced boos at a game between the Detroit Lions and the Washington Commanders in November.
