Bruins Celebrate “Hockey is for Everyone” Night with TD Bank on Jan. 22

The Boston Bruins are gearing up to celebrate “Hockey is for Everyone” Night, presented by TD Bank, on January 22. This special event will take place during the Bruins’ home game against the Vegas Golden Knights at TD Garden, starting at 7 p.m.

Purpose of Hockey is for Everyone Night

Hockey is for Everyone is an initiative by the NHL aimed at promoting social change and inclusivity through hockey. The Bruins’ dedication to this effort emphasizes acceptance across various demographics, including race, religion, disability, and sexual orientation.

Event Features

On January 22, TD Garden and The Hub on Causeway will showcase vibrant rainbow colors in celebration of this initiative. During the opening lineup, the Bruins will introduce an honorary group of six players who represent diverse communities, including:

  • LGBTQIA+
  • Sled Hockey
  • Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Participants
  • Blind Athletes
  • Special Hockey
  • Standing Amputee/Limb Difference Athletes

Community Involvement

Several local organizations will also participate during the game:

  • Boston Deafenders: The first hockey team for deaf and hard-of-hearing players will have a table behind Loge 7.
  • New England Battalion Hockey Club: This organization supports veterans and adaptive hockey players and will be positioned behind Loge 11.
  • Massachusetts Adaptive Hockey: Focused on increasing access to hockey, they will be present behind Loge 20.

Support and Fundraising Efforts

The Boston Bruins Foundation will hold an online auction from January 22 to January 30 for rainbow-taped, team-issued sticks. Fans can bid by texting BBFSticks to 76278, with proceeds benefiting Boston Pride Hockey (BPH), New England’s pioneering LGBTQIA+ and ally-friendly hockey organization.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with the Boston Bruins for this event,” said Kevin Corsino, Communications Director of Boston Pride Hockey. “These efforts enhance visibility for our community and enable us to provide financial support for participants.”

Additional Fundraising Opportunities

In addition to the auction, a 50/50 raffle will also take place. Proceeds will support the Bruins Foundation and Achilles International, which provides sports opportunities for athletes with disabilities. The raffle closes at the beginning of the third period, with tickets available at BostonBruins.com/5050.
