Perth CBD Skyline Transformation Nears Completion

A significant transformation is underway in the Perth Central Business District (CBD) as plans for a $230 million development near RAC Arena move closer to approval. The City of Perth has recommended that these plans be evaluated by the Development Assessment Panel this week.

Details of the Perth CBD Transformation Project

This comprehensive project has been advanced by PTS Town Planning, representing the developers Bonaventure and Claridges. The plan includes the construction of a 32-storey and an 18-storey residential building, alongside renovations to the Four Points by Sheraton Perth hotel.

  • Project Cost: $230 million
  • Building Heights: 32-storey and 18-storey apartments
  • Apartment Units: A total of 272 new dwellings
  • Location: Bounded by Wellington Street, Milligan Street, Murray Street, and Elder Street

Key Features of the Development

The 32-storey structure on Murray Street will feature 159 dwellings, various commercial spaces, and 169 parking bays. Meanwhile, the 18-storey building on Wellington Street will offer 113 residential units, ground-level retail options, and 126 parking bays.

The total area for this undertaking covers 28,654 square meters. A significant aspect of the project is the refurbishment plan for the Four Points by Sheraton Perth located at 707 Wellington Street. This refurbishment aims to enhance the hotel’s facades, install a new glazed window system, and update the restaurant, including the creation of an outdoor dining space.

Sustainability Measures

As part of the approval conditions, the project will preserve four existing verge trees previously slated for removal, highlighting a commitment to sustainability amidst urban development.

The Development Assessment Panel is scheduled to review the proposal during its meeting on January 22. If approved, this project will mark a notable addition to the skyline of Perth, contributing significantly to both residential and commercial capacities in the area.
