Everton Pursues Agreement to Secure Jack Grealish for Next Season

Everton are pursuing talks with Manchester City in a bid to secure Jack Grealish for next season. The club hopes to arrange a second deal to keep the England international at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Current arrangement and club stance

Grealish is on loan from the Carabao Cup holders for the remainder of this campaign. Everton hold an option to buy him for £50m, but that fee would set a new club record.

Manager David Moyes wants to retain him. A further loan appears the most likely outcome, with formal steps expected after the season ends.

Injury and recent form

Grealish has not played since January because of a foot injury. He is expected to miss the rest of the campaign.

He still made an early impact after joining. He won the Premier League player-of-the-month award for August. Despite a 10-week absence, only three players have more assists than his six. He has also scored twice this season.

Club contract and Manchester City situation

Grealish signed a six-year contract with Manchester City in 2021 for a British record fee of £100m. He now has one year left on that deal.

He has become surplus to requirements at City. He lost his place last season and missed the Club World Cup squad. Pep Guardiola has recruited several wingers and attacking midfielders, suggesting limited opportunities ahead.

  • Omar Marmoush – signed last January
  • Rayan Cherki – signed last summer
  • Tijjani Reijnders – signed last summer
  • Antoine Semenyo – signed three months ago

Transfer figures and next steps

City have been open to selling Grealish and recouping a fee. He scored 17 goals in 157 appearances for Manchester City.

Everton’s preference could be another loan deal. Negotiations are unlikely to progress until the season concludes.
