Police Respond to Incident, Temporarily Close Green Park Station
British Transport Police said officers were called at about 8am on April 20, 2026. The call reported a casualty on the tracks at Green Park Underground station.
Response at Green Park
Officers attended the scene with paramedics. A person was taken to hospital with potentially life‑threatening and life‑changing injuries.
London Fire Brigade confirmed it was assisting emergency services. Two fire engines and a fire rescue unit were in attendance.
Investigation under way
Police said inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing. Investigators continue to work at the site.
Service disruption
Transport for London reported the Jubilee Line was closed after the incident. The closure began at around 8.20am, causing severe delays.
Stations affected included Waterloo, Westminster, Green Park, Bond Street, Baker Street, St John’s Wood, Swiss Cottage and Finchley Road.
- Jubilee Line: no trains between Waterloo and Finchley Road.
- Hammersmith & City Line: briefly suspended at Paddington for a separate trespass incident, later reopened with delays.
- Bakerloo Line: minor delays due to cancellations.

Separate crash in France
On April 7, a TGV train collided with a truck at a level crossing in Noeux‑les‑Mines, Pas‑de‑Calais. The train was on the Dunkirk‑Paris route and carried about 250 passengers.
The collision derailed the train on the Béthune‑Arras line, which remains closed. The train driver died at the scene.
Local authorities later confirmed at least 30 people were injured. Earlier reports had listed 27 injured. The truck driver also sustained serious injuries.
Fabien Villedieu, Federal Secretary at SUD Rail, posted updates and images on X. He confirmed the train driver had died and said a small number of passengers were injured.
