Staffordshire Railway Issues Statement Following Train Derailment

The Churnet Valley Railway issued a statement after a derailment at Cheddleton station. The incident occurred at about 09:40 on 18 April 2026.

Incident and immediate response

The affected movement was empty coaching stock departing Cheddleton. No injuries were reported or sustained.

A CVR response team was sent immediately. Recovery teams are working to rerail and remove a locomotive and a coach.
