Cesc Fàbregas Stays at Como Following Prestigious Award Win

Cesc Fàbregas has confirmed he plans to remain at Como after receiving Italy’s Bearzot Award. The 38-year-old became the first foreign coach to win the honour from the Italian Football Federation.

Reaction to the honour

Fàbregas described the prize as recognition for the club and the city. He said the success reflects collective work, not only his own effort.

He also stressed his attachment to the Como project. At present, he expects it is unlikely he will leave the club.

Path from player to coach

Fàbregas played for Como before retiring from playing in 2023. He then took charge as interim coach and secured promotion to Serie A in May 2024.

As coach of the promoted side, he guided Como to a 10th-place finish last season. That run of results drew interest from several top European clubs.

Commitment and future plans

Last year he explored how other clubs operate and informed the chairman of his intentions. Despite that, he chose to remain with Como and expressed satisfaction with the project.

Cesc Fàbregas stays at Como despite outside interest, buoyed by the recognition of his prestigious award win.

Current standings and upcoming fixtures

Como sit fifth in Serie A, two points behind Juventus. Juventus currently occupy the final Champions League qualifying place.

The team is in contention for a European spot next season. Como will face Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia semifinal return leg next month.
