Elon Musk’s SpaceX Boosts Tesla Cybertruck Sales
New registration data show Tesla Cybertruck figures were inflated by vehicles moving inside Elon Musk’s businesses. Bloomberg and S&P Global Mobility provided the data and analysis to Filmogaz.com.
Registration breakdown
S&P Global Mobility says 7,071 Cybertrucks were registered in the U.S. in Q4 2025. SpaceX accounted for 1,279 of those registrations.
That number represents just over 18 percent of the quarter’s total. Other Musk ventures bought an additional 60 trucks that period.
Inter-company purchases and value
The acquisitions included vehicles by xAI, Neuralink, and the Boring Company. xAI had been acquired by SpaceX in February 2026.
Bloomberg’s reporting highlights that Elon Musk’s SpaceX Boosts Tesla Cybertruck Sales through internal transfers. The terms of those transfers remain undisclosed.
With a starting price near $70,000, the internal purchases could exceed $100 million in value. Sales to Musk-affiliated firms also continued into 2026.
Those companies bought 225 Cybertrucks in the first two months of 2026. The trend kept quarter-to-quarter totals higher than they otherwise would have been.
Effect on reported demand
Without Musk-company purchases, Cybertruck registrations would have dropped 51 percent year-over-year in Q4 2025. That steep decline exposes weaker public demand for the pickup.
Elon Musk once said Tesla would need to build 250,000 Cybertrucks per year to meet demand. Production has not reached that level during more than two years on the market.
Industry views and contributing factors
Analysts point to the vehicle’s polarizing design as a sales hurdle. Critics also cite higher-than-expected pricing and multiple recalls.
Sam Fiorani, vice president of global forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions, warned that Tesla is running out of buyers for the Cybertruck. The comment reflects broader concern within the industry.
Broader consequences for Tesla
Tesla’s overall sales have fallen for three consecutive years. BYD has overtaken Tesla as the world’s largest electric vehicle seller.
Musk has shifted Tesla’s emphasis toward ambitious projects. Robotaxi and humanoid-robot efforts remain years away from producing revenue or widespread deployment.
