Eli Tomac exited Round 14 of the SuperMotocross World Championship in Cleveland after a heavy qualifying crash. The incident occurred during the first qualification session at Huntington Bank Field.

Crash and immediate response

The crash happened late in Qualification 1 in the whoops section. Tomac was thrown from his bike and landed hard on his right shoulder.

Race officials stopped the session with a red flag. The Alpinestars medical team attended to him on the track.

Injuries and short-term assessment

Medical checks found no broken bones. Tomac was visibly in pain and initially favored his right shoulder.

He later cited hip pain and ruled himself out of the evening’s feature program. He attempted a return in the second qualification.

Attempted return and withdrawal

Tomac tried to complete laps in Qualification 2. He managed only a couple of slow circuits before pulling into the mechanic’s area.

After pausing briefly, he shook his head and left the track. Team officials confirmed he would not continue that night.

Championship impact

Tomac arrived in Cleveland trailing championship leader Hunter Lawrence by 15 points. Lawrence posted the fastest qualifying time that day.

Tomac will not earn points in Round 14. With three rounds remaining, the deficit could grow to as much as 40 points.
