New 23-Home Development Plans Unveiled
Local planning officers are now considering multiple proposals across north Dorset. The largest is an outline bid for a 23-home development off Old Crown Road, Fontmell Magna.

The outline application covers access only at this stage. It is lodged under reference P/OUT/2026/01593 for Land at E 386450 N 116625, Old Crown Road, Fontmell Magna.
Details on layout, scale and appearance will follow if the scheme proceeds. The proposal would deliver up to 23 new homes to the local housing stock.
Seasonal campsite proposed at Chetnole
A summer recreational campsite has been proposed on land west of Humbers Deep, Ford Lane, Chetnole. The application number is P/PARC/2026/01757.
It seeks permission for up to 50 pitches for tents, campervans and motorhomes. The requested dates are 1 July to 29 August 2026, a 60-day period.
Smaller housing and principle approvals
A permission in principle application aims to establish acceptability for four homes at Rowlands Yard, The Causeway. That submission is registered as P/PIP/2026/00690 near Sturminster Newton.
If approved, detailed plans would be required later. The route allows early confirmation of residential use.

Several household applications have been lodged across the district. These include porch, extension and roofing projects.

An agricultural building is proposed at Meadowside, A354 Cashmoor to Gussage St Michael Lane, Gussage All Saints BH21 5JF. The application reference is P/PABA2/2026/01040.
Listed building consent is sought for external window alterations at Denzil Cottage, Dean Lane, SP5 5PA. That is application P/LBC/2026/01724.
