Chef David Burke Revitalizes Iconic Station Restaurant in Bernardsville

Celebrity chef David Burke is relaunching the longtime Station restaurant in Bernardsville. The venue sits across from the town’s train station. Burke’s group will reopen it as the Station Tavern on Saturday, April 18.

New look and service

The space will get a redesigned interior and a refreshed tavern-style menu. Service will begin with an all-day offering from noon on weekdays through the evening.

Weekday hours are noon to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays extend to 9:30 p.m. Weekend brunch specials will be added later.

Burke’s local footprint

This move follows Burke’s earlier opening of Red Horse by David Burke at the Bernards Inn. His New Jersey portfolio also includes Red Horse in Rumson, Orchard Park in East Brunswick and Dixie Lee Bakery in Keansburg.

Other recent openings

Massa Pasta launched a neighborhood pasta kitchen from a husband-and-wife team. Co-founder Yosif Bulbuloglu trained at Le Cordon Bleu and worked for Turkish Airlines and Google. The restaurant operates Tuesday through Sunday.

High Grounds Lounge opened in Carneys Point on April 13. The concept pairs Death of a Fox, a craft brewery and coffee roastery, with the Frosted Nug dispensary. Offerings include an on-site coffee roastery and wellness drinks like matcha, mushroom coffee, kombucha and protein shakes.

The Brookdale in Bloomfield announced a closure after six years. Its final day of service is Sunday, April 19.

Uno Mas in Allendale will close after four years. The restaurant’s last day is Saturday, April 18. Sister businesses Allendale Social and Charlie’s Place will remain open.

On Saturday, April 18, Manhattan’s Carmine’s will stage a one-night event at Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment in East Rutherford. The takeover honors the late Carmine Abbatiello and will feature large-format classics like spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, chicken parm and tiramisu. A portion of proceeds benefits the Purple Haze Standardbred Adoption Program.

NJ-based Gogo Grocer launched a weekly grocery truck at an AvalonBay property in Maplewood. It visits every Tuesday evening with produce, pantry staples and specialty goods. Residents may shop in person or order ahead via an app, with no delivery fees.
