Toyota Yaris Cross Unveils Bold New Design
Toyota unveils a bolder, new design for the Yaris Cross ahead of its autumn launch. The refreshed model brings sharper styling, upgraded cabin materials, and hybrid tweaks.
Exterior updates
The front end has been redesigned to echo the new RAV4. A larger hexagonal grille now blends into the bodywork.
Low-set LED daytime running lights have been removed. Designers integrated them into new headlight units instead.
Most of the body remains familiar. Two new paint shades are available, and trims get revised 17- or 18-inch wheels.
Interior and technology
Cabin improvements focus on material quality rather than layout changes. Excel grade models gain SakuraTouch fabric inserts.
Digital instruments remain standard across the range. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are fitted to all cars.
Infotainment varies by trim. The Icon base model has a 9-inch screen, while other versions use a 10.5-inch unit.
Powertrain and performance
The familiar 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain stays in service. It continues to produce 129 bhp after 2024 revisions.
Engine tuning reduced noise and vibration in the latest update. Acceleration to 62 mph takes about 10.7 seconds.
Efficiency is a strong suit, with near-60 mpg figures possible in normal use. Buyers can choose front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Trim and availability
The range includes four trim levels, capped by a GR Sport variant. Sales begin in the autumn in the UK.
Official UK pricing is pending. Expect figures close to the current range of £27,295 to £33,095.
Market positioning
The refreshed Yaris Cross will compete in the B-segment SUV field. Key rivals include the Ford Puma and Nissan Juke.
New entrants such as the Jaecoo 5 and BYD Atto 2 add pressure. Chinese rivals often match price and offer extra kit.
Toyota’s durability and strong residual values remain key selling points. The brand also benefits from broadly pleasant driving dynamics.
