Westwood Urges Kerala Blasters Fans to Express Concerns Constructively

Ashley Westwood, the interim coach of Kerala Blasters, appealed for calm ahead of the club’s home ISL fixture. He asked supporters to air grievances appropriately and to continue backing the players.

Match and Boycott

The match is scheduled at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi. It comes on the day Kerala celebrates Vishu, the festival of fresh beginnings.

Two major supporter groups, Manjappada and Blasters Army, have announced a full boycott of the remaining home games. The boycott starts with the fixture against NorthEast United.

What Westwood Asked Of Fans

Westwood urged fans to express concerns constructively and not by staying away. He told them to channel complaints the right way and to help the players on matchday.

He stressed that every football club needs its supporters. He said their presence helps players perform and builds momentum.

Empty Galleries and Atmosphere

Organisers fear the East and West galleries could be largely deserted. The stadium might lack yellow-clad supporters, chants, banners and the usual tifos.

Team Form and Coaching Change

Westwood took charge after David Catala’s exit. Catala had managed just one point from six rounds.

Westwood earned his first win in charge when the team defeated Bengaluru FC 2-1. That victory came away in Bengaluru on April 11 and was his second game at the helm.

Promises on the Pitch

Westwood pledged a clearer identity and more commitment. He said players would run until the final minute and show stronger character.

He added that wins cannot be promised every week. But he vowed a consistent level of work ethic and performance fans could be proud of.
