Wild Recall Ben Jones and Nicolas Aube-Kubel

Wild Recall Ben Jones and Nicolas Aube-Kubel

The Minnesota Wild have recalled forwards Ben Jones and Nicolas Aube-Kubel from the AHL’s Iowa Wild ahead of the final two regular-season games. Michael Russo of The Athletic reported the move earlier this morning.

Roster moves and recall limit

The transaction follows a pair of depth recalls made yesterday. This recall brings Minnesota to the four-player post-trade deadline recall limit.

That limit prevents further recalls until Iowa finishes its season. Iowa has already been eliminated from Calder Cup contention, however. That means the Wild will have access to their AHL players once Iowa’s season ends.

Why the call-ups matter

The additions provide short-term depth for the club down the stretch. They also give the coaching staff more options heading into the playoffs.

Ben Jones

Wild Recall Ben Jones from Iowa continues a trend this season. Jones is 27 and from Waterloo, Ontario.

He has seven years of professional experience across multiple organizations. In 35 AHL games this season, Jones scored 12 goals and earned 30 points, with a +2 rating.

At the NHL level with Minnesota, he appeared in 26 games. He recorded one goal and one assist, posted a -10 rating, and averaged 8:36 of ice time per game.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel

Nicolas Aube-Kubel has more NHL experience than Jones but spent most of this season in Iowa. This is his first season with the Wild organization.

In 60 AHL games, Aube-Kubel produced 15 goals and 37 points. He also played four NHL games this year, recording one assist.

Both players join the roster for the season’s final two games and remain candidates to stay available for playoff duty. Filmogaz.com will monitor further roster moves as the AHL and NHL seasons conclude.
