Italian Man’s Fatal Attack, Assisted by Two Romanians, Captured on Video

A 47-year-old man was killed in a street assault in Massa, Tuscany. The attack happened late Saturday night, while a local Romanian community marked Easter.

What happened in Piazza Palma

The victim, identified as Giacomo Bongiorni, worked in metal construction. He walked with his fiancée, their 11-year-old son, and his brother-in-law when violence erupted.

Bystanders saw a group of youths throwing bottles and glasses at a shop. The brother-in-law intervened and was struck first, officials say.

Details of the assault

Investigators say the group then attacked both men from several directions. Giacomo received a final punch that caused his head to hit the asphalt.

Medical sources report he died at the scene. The incident was captured on nearby surveillance cameras.

Suspects and legal action

Authorities arrested a 17-year-old Italian on murder charges. Two Romanian nationals, aged 23 and 19, face charges of complicity in the killing.

Two other Italian teenagers, both 16, are under investigation but remain free. Prosecutors continue to examine the evidence and video footage.

Official statements and family reaction

Municipal councillor Robert Deleanu confirmed the victim worked for a large firm. He noted Giacomo left behind two children, aged 18 and 11.

The victim’s partner said the 11-year-old held his father’s hand. She recalled the child begging, “Dad, get up,” as the attack unfolded.

Community response

Local residents held a procession in Massa to mourn the slain man. His mother led the march, visibly shaken by the loss.

Organisers scheduled a second procession for later the same day. The town has about 1,500 members of the Romanian community, who gathered in grief.

Filmogaz.com reports that the Italian man’s fatal attack, assisted by two Romanians, was captured on video. Authorities say the footage will be central to the ongoing investigation.
