The clip shows a gray car heading southbound on 35th Street. Multiple Milwaukee Police Department vehicles follow closely in pursuit.

The car weaves through traffic before crashing near 35th Street and National Avenue.

Shooting and immediate response

After the crash, the driver exited the vehicle and fired at officers. Officers returned fire, according to Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman.

The sequence preceded an officer-involved shooting. The suspect, identified only by age as 31, was taken to a hospital.

He later died at the hospital.

Investigation and public safety

Authorities said the incident remains under investigation. They have not released additional details about injuries to officers.
