Teen Accused of Sex Abuse, Murder in Stepsister Anna Kepner’s Death
A serious case has emerged involving a 16-year-old boy charged with sexual abuse and first-degree murder of his stepsister, Anna Kepner. The tragedy occurred during a family vacation on a cruise ship, the Carnival Horizon. The teen, referred to as T.H., has been indicted as an adult by a federal grand jury.

The incident allegedly took place on or around November 6 or 7 while the family was traveling in international waters. According to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, T.H. is accused of “sexually assaulting and intentionally killing” Kepner. Anna Kepner, 18, was found dead under a bed in her cabin by a staff member on November 7.
Following the docking of the cruise ship in Miami, her body was transported to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office. The autopsy determined that she died from mechanical asphyxiation.

The U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones expressed condolences to the victim’s family.
