Rory McIlroy Secures Another Victory
Rory McIlroy won the 2026 Masters at Augusta National on April 12, 2026. He became the fourth golfer to win consecutive Masters tournaments.
After the second round on Friday, McIlroy held a six-stroke lead. That was the largest lead at that point in Masters history.
He lost that advantage the following day and found himself tied for the lead. On Sunday, he fell behind after a double bogey on the fourth hole and a bogey on the sixth.
McIlroy then birdied four of the next seven holes to seize control again. The rally showcased his mental resilience and course management.
His parents were in attendance after missing his victory the previous year. He convinced them to return, and they celebrated with him that night.
Only Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods had before won back-to-back Masters. This victory is McIlroy’s sixth major title, tying him with Nick Faldo for the most majors won by a European player.
In dramatic fashion, Rory McIlroy Secures Another Victory at Augusta. The win confirms his standing among golf’s modern greats.
