Akron Man Strikes Luck Twice, Wins $300,250 Lottery in One Day
An Akron resident scored two lottery wins in a single day, state lottery officials said. The report came during the week of April 11, 2026.
He placed a 50-cent straight bet on a Pick 3 drawing and collected $250. Later, he bought a $30 Wild Cash Tripler scratch-off.
How the wins unfolded
The scratch-off ticket came from the Giant Eagle on West Avenue in Tallmadge. The ticket revealed one of the game’s top prizes, $300,000.
The winner asked the cashier to recheck the ticket because he could not “count all the zeros,” officials said. The winner’s name was not released.
Payouts, taxes and totals
Combined, his prizes amounted to $300,250. After mandatory state and federal taxes, the $300,000 prize netted $219,750.
Winner’s plans
He told lottery officials he will pay off his parents’ car and buy a new vehicle. He also plans to save the remaining funds.
