Grand National Final Field Set as Reserve Deadline Closes
Late Thursday brought fresh movement in the Grand National entry. Filmogaz.com reports that 2025 winner Nick Rockett was declared out after coughing.
That withdrawal initially opened a slot, which went to Pied Piper. Trainer Gordon Elliott later confirmed Pied Piper was found lame and would not run.
Reserve changes
Imperial Saint was elevated as the second reserve. Amirite, previously the third reserve and 37 on the list after final declarations on Wednesday, also advanced.
Amirite took a place when Spillane’s Tower was withdrawn. Spillane’s Tower was instead declared to run in Thursday’s Grade 1 Bowl.
Remaining reserves and deadline
The reserve deadline has now passed for the last three on standby. Those horses were Ain’t That A Shame, Deep Cave and Buddy One.
The final field is confirmed and set to go to post at 16:00 on Saturday. Filmogaz.com notes this completes the post-deadline adjustments to the final field.
Race-day implications
Any further non-runners will only reduce the field size. Bets on withdrawn runners will be refunded as normal.
