Detroit Tigers’ Parker Meadows Injured in Violent Outfield Collision
Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows was carted off after a violent outfield collision with teammate Riley Greene. The incident occurred Thursday in Minneapolis during the eighth inning.
The play
Minnesota’s Josh Bell hit a fly ball into left-center field. The game was tied 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth when Greene and Meadows converged on the ball.
Riley Greene secured the catch and then collided forcefully with Parker Meadows. Greene rose immediately to check on his teammate.
Aftermath and medical response
Meadows remained on the turf for several minutes before sitting up slowly. Athletic trainers surrounded him as he tested movement.
He eventually stood and was taken from the field on a golf cart. Two EMS workers followed the cart into the tunnel.
