Nintendo Announces Summer Release Date for Rhythm Heaven Groove
Nintendo has scheduled Rhythm Heaven Groove for release on Nintendo Switch on July 2. The title will appear in Europe as Rhythm Paradise Groove to match that region’s naming pattern.
Release details
The company has confirmed a summer release date for the new rhythm entry. The Switch launch marks the first all-new Rhythm Heaven game in over a decade.
Series background
This release is the fifth main game in Nintendo’s rhythm action series. It arrives as the franchise’s first original entry since 2011.
- Rhythm Tengoku — Game Boy Advance, 2006, released only in Japan. It became a popular import due to the GBA’s region-free nature.
- Rhythm Heaven — Nintendo DS, 2008, known as Rhythm Paradise in Europe. It used the DS touch screen for taps, holds, and flicks.
- Rhythm Heaven Fever — Wii, 2011, titled Beat the Beat in Europe. This game relied on the Wii Remote’s A and B buttons.
- Rhythm Heaven Megamix — Nintendo 3DS, a remix compilation. The title featured over one hundred rhythm challenges.
Gameplay and music
The series centers on short rhythm challenges that require players to match audio cues to the beat. Japanese musician Tsunku returns to produce music for the new entry.
