Giants’ John Harbaugh Strengthens Offensive Line with Former Ravens Player Signing
The New York Giants have signed offensive guard Daniel Faalele to a one-year contract, according to NFL Network. The move adds another former Ravens player to coach John Harbaugh’s roster.
Faalele is 26 years old and measures 6-foot-8 and 370 pounds. He was a 2022 fourth-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens.
Playing history and role
He started every game for the Ravens over the past two seasons. Before that stretch, he had one career NFL start.
During those starts he lined up exclusively at right guard. That experience makes him a natural candidate for the same spot in New York.
Giants’ right guard situation
The team allowed Greg Van Roten to depart in free agency. Van Roten, 36, remains unsigned.
Jon Runyan retains the left guard role, but the club views him as a short-term solution.
- Lucas Patrick
- Aaron Stinnie
- Evan Neal
- Josh Ezeudu
- Bryan Hudson
Those names are potential options at right guard. The group has not inspired strong confidence league-wide.
Pro Football Focus grades
Pro Football Focus rated Faalele modestly. In 2024 he posted a 63.5 pass-blocking grade and a 59.8 run-blocking grade.
Last year those marks fell to 60.1 for pass blocking and 53.5 for run blocking. Those grades contributed to a delayed free-agent signing.
Harbaugh’s pattern of acquisitions
Faalele joins several ex-Ravens already added by Harbaugh this offseason. Those additions include punter Jordan Stout, tight end Isaiah Likely, fullback Patrick Ricard and safety Ar’Darius Washington.
With Faalele, Harbaugh has brought five former Baltimore players to his first Giants coaching staff. The move further strengthens the Giants’ offensive line depth with former Ravens talent.
Given his size and experience at right guard, Faalele is a logical contender for a starting role. The team will evaluate him alongside existing options during the offseason.
