Meta Launches AI Model from High-Budget Superintelligence Team

On April 8, Meta unveiled Muse Spark, the first public release from the costly superintelligence effort it assembled last year. The company said the new AI model comes from a high-budget superintelligence team built to accelerate its progress in the AI race.

Rollout and platform plan

Muse Spark will first appear on the Meta AI app and on the company website. Meta plans to replace existing Llama models across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and its smart glasses in the coming weeks.

The model family is being developed under the internal name Avocado. Initial access is limited while Meta tests broader integrations.

Capabilities and features

Meta described Muse Spark as small and fast by design. It is engineered to handle complex reasoning in science, math, and health.

The company also introduced Contemplating mode. That mode runs multiple agents at once to improve planning and reasoning, for example drafting an itinerary while another agent searches for kid-friendly activities.

Strategic context and investment

The effort follows major hiring and deals last year. Meta recruited Scale AI CEO Alex Wang as part of a reported $14.3 billion arrangement.

Some engineers received pay packages worth hundreds of millions of dollars to staff the team. Meta did not disclose Muse Spark’s model size, a common benchmark for comparing AI systems.

Leadership view and next steps

CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said initial models will be solid and will demonstrate rapid progress. Meta said a next-generation model is already in development.

Market reaction and user reach

Shares of Meta rose, trading up nearly 7% after the announcement. The company hopes the technology will boost engagement across its more than 3.5 billion users.

Meta is betting that applying AI to everyday personal tasks will give it an edge against rivals with smaller reach.
