N.J. Law Student Claims 17th Consecutive ‘Jeopardy!’ Victory, Unstoppable Streak Continues

Jamie Ding of New Jersey recorded his 17th straight Jeopardy! victory on Monday night. The run places him among the show’s longest winning streaks.

The N.J. law student called his run an unstoppable streak in interviews. This 17th consecutive win moved him into tenth place on the show’s all-time list.

Background and work

Ding is a Princeton graduate from Lawrenceville and often competes wearing orange. He is a Seton Hall law student.

He works at the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. He serves as administrator for the state’s multifamily tax credit program.

On the March 23 episode, he joked about neighboring states and affordable housing. The remark helped him go viral early in his run.

Leaderboard context

Monday’s win nudged Somerville resident Scott Riccardi out of the top ten. Before that, Riccardi, Ding, and Ryan Long of Philadelphia shared the 10th spot.

Two other New Jersey players remain above Ding on the list. Dave Madden of Ridgewood won 19 games in 2005 and is tied for eighth.

Chris Pannullo of Ocean City has the sixth-longest streak with 21 wins from late 2022. Ding could tie Pannullo by the end of this week if he keeps winning.

Winnings and records

As of Monday, Ding’s regular-season winnings total $494,012. That amount trails Pannullo by roughly $254,000.

Pannullo ranks fifth for most regular-season money earned in the show’s history. The all-time streak record belongs to Ken Jennings with 74 straight wins in 2004.

Jennings also leads the regular-season money list at more than $2.5 million. Ding will need many more victories to reach that level.
