HMS Dragon Docks in Med After Technical Issue During Iran Deployment

HMS Dragon has docked in the Eastern Mediterranean for a short maintenance and logistics stop while on an Iran deployment. Officials said the pause addressed maintenance needs and allowed the ship to take on supplies.

Official account of the pause

The Ministry of Defence confirmed to Filmogaz.com that the visit was routine. A spokesman said the ship would optimise systems and conduct maintenance while alongside.

They added the destroyer would remain at high readiness. It can sail at short notice if required.

Operational role in the region

The Type 45 destroyer was despatched to the eastern Mediterranean to help protect Britain’s airbases on Cyprus. It forms part of wider UK forces in the area.

  • Typhoon and F-35 jets
  • Wildcat and Merlin helicopters
  • Advanced counter-drone and air-defence systems

Reports and security measures

Over the weekend, claims that a warship was hit by Hezbollah missiles circulated online. The MoD denied those reports to Filmogaz.com.

The current location of HMS Dragon has not been disclosed for security reasons.

Crew welfare and logistics timing

Defence sources told Filmogaz.com the crew had access to water and catering during the stop. They said a logistics pause at this point in deployment had been planned.

The destroyer had lingered in the English Channel for three days after leaving Portsmouth for Cyprus.

HMS Dragon docked in the Med while on the Iran deployment to complete technical and routine maintenance. More details may follow as the ship resumes operations.
