Transfer Pokémon to Champions: Step-by-Step Guide Using Pokémon HOME

Pokémon Champions arrives as Game Freak’s new competitive title. It is free-to-play on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Android, and iOS. Before competing, players should move their captured Pokémon into Champions using Pokémon HOME.

Getting Pokémon HOME

Download Pokémon HOME for free from your console’s eShop or your mobile app store. Install the app on your Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 to access save files and perform transfers.

Installing the mobile app is optional for game-to-home transfers. However, the mobile app is required for trading with friends and receiving Pokémon from Pokémon GO.

Transfer from Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

Open Pokémon HOME on your Switch or Switch 2 to view detected save files. Select a save file, pick the Pokémon, and send them to any HOME box.

  • Pokémon Scarlet
  • Pokémon Violet
  • Pokémon Legends: Z-A
  • Pokémon Legends: Arceus
  • Pokémon Sword
  • Pokémon Shield
  • Pokémon Shining Pearl
  • Pokémon Brilliant Diamond
  • Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!
  • Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!

Transfer from Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO requires sending Pokémon directly from its app. Open GO, then go to Settings and choose Connected Devices and Services.

Select Pokémon HOME, then choose Send Pokémon. After sending, open the Pokémon HOME mobile app to claim the transferred Pokémon.

Trading with Friends

Trades cannot be initiated from the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME. Use the mobile app and tap the Trades tab to trade.

The free Pokémon HOME plan limits users to ten trades per day. Upgrade options exist for larger limits and additional features.

Quick tips

  • Keep game save backups before large transfers.
  • Verify compatibility of Pokémon and forms before sending.
  • Use the mobile app for remote trades and GO transfers.
