Greggs Expands UK Menu with Permanent Bakery Addition
Greggs has announced a new permanent menu item across its UK shops. The Newcastle-based bakery revealed the Chicken Roll on April 7, 2026.
Product details
The Chicken Roll joins Greggs’ existing sausage and vegan rolls. It completes the chain’s three-roll offering.
Greggs describes the item as seasoned chicken wrapped in glazed, flaky puff pastry. The company says this completes its iconic roll trilogy.
Nutritional and price details
The new roll contains 305 calories per serving. It will be sold for £1.35 from April 10, 2026.
Launch tasting event
Greggs will hold an early tasting pop-up in Soho on April 8. The location is 15 Bateman Street, London.
Sessions run between 3.30pm and 9pm, with 20-minute tasting slots on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests must arrive in groups of three to reflect the trilogy theme.
Visitors in trios will receive three complimentary rolls and a free chicken-themed cocktail or mocktail. The offer will be available while slots last.
Business context and expansion plans
Greggs reported mixed trading figures alongside the launch. The firm cited rising living costs, higher tax and labour costs, and changing weight-loss trends as pressures.
Statutory pre-tax profits fell by 17.9% to £167.4 million for the year to December 27, 2025. Total sales, however, rose 6.8% to £2.15 billion.
The bakery opened a net 121 stores during 2025, bringing its estate to 2,739 UK locations at year end. Management plans roughly 120 further openings this year.
Greggs says it aims to expand to significantly more than 3,000 UK shops over the longer term. The company continues to expand as it adjusts to market pressures.
