Shannon Bream Embraces Non-Political Mission: ‘Fulfilling Christ’s Agenda’
Shannon Bream made history as the first woman to anchor Fox News Sunday in the program’s 26-year run. She spoke recently on the CBN Faith in Culture podcast about faith, priorities, and a non-political mission. She framed her work as centered on Fulfilling Christ’s Agenda rather than advancing partisan goals.
Faith and daily routine
Bream said she begins each day in Scripture and prayer. She described that time as essential to prepare for work and life.
She uses prayer as a way to “put my armor on” and to seek quiet. The Bible, she added, offers guidance and perspective.
Approach to political disagreement
Bream argued believers should not carry anyone’s political agenda. Instead, she urged focusing on reaching people spiritually.
She warned against demonizing opponents. Treating ideological foes as human, she said, opens the door to conversations about God’s grace.
Wider social context
Political polarization remains deep in the United States. Data released last summer by the Pew Research Center found eight-in-ten adults believe Republicans and Democrats disagree on basic facts.
A 2024 Johns Hopkins University study reported nearly half of Americans view their political opponents as “downright evil.” Those findings frame the environment Bream addressed.
Medical crisis and spiritual resilience
Bream has faced a serious medical trial. Doctors diagnosed her with Map-Dot-Fingerprint Dystrophy, a genetic disorder that causes recurrent corneal erosions.
The condition produced intense pain and despair. She said it left her at times not wanting to wake up.
During her struggle, she reported a spiritual reassurance. She recalled hearing in her spirit, “I’ll be with you,” and said that promise sustained her.
Published work and where to learn more
Bream is the author of the new book Nothing Is Impossible With God. The memoir expands on her faith and health journey.
