Elder Gerrit W. Gong’s Key Insights from April 2026 General Conference
During the April 2026 General Conference, Elder Gerrit W. Gong, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, delivered an insightful message centered on Easter and the theme of abiding in Christ. His remarks were highlighted during the Sunday afternoon session of this significant religious gathering.
Elder Gong’s Message on Easter and Abiding in Christ
Elder Gong began his talk with a reference to the risen Christ’s encounter with two disciples on the road to Emmaus. He reminded the audience that, similar to these disciples, many individuals experience feelings of loneliness and misunderstanding in their journeys. He stated, “As we, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, long for our Savior to abide with us, for ’tis Eastertide.”
He emphasized that Jesus Christ provides companionship during our darkest moments. Elder Gong assured attendees that Christ is ready to walk alongside them, fulfilling the promise made by the Savior as He declares, “I am your answer — your way, your truth, your life.”
According to Elder Gong, there are two ways through which Christ abides with His followers: through the Holy Ghost, known as the First Comforter, and through the Savior’s own presence as the Second Comforter. He encouraged church members to express love and support for one another, stating, “Let us see and walk together in His love so He can abide with and in us, and us in Him, at this Eastertide and each day.”
