Sunil Gavaskar Urges KKR’s Rs 25.2 Crore Star Evaluation
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has questioned Kolkata Knight Riders’ current setup. He flagged the balance issue caused by Cameron Green’s restricted bowling availability.
Medical update and bowling status
Cricket Australia has confirmed Green’s workload is under careful management. He has a lower back concern and is not yet cleared to bowl.
KKR were reportedly informed of the restriction before the tournament started. Green has, however, been seen bowling in practice sessions.
Gavaskar’s assessment of the team’s options
Gavaskar told Star Sports that KKR must reassess their combination if Green cannot bowl. He urged the franchise to consider bringing in an extra specialist batter.
The veteran also noted the team’s balance suffers when an all-rounder cannot contribute with the ball. Sunil Gavaskar’s comments represent an evaluation of KKR’s Rs 25.2 crore star and the side’s structure.
Concerns over the middle order
Gavaskar said Green at No. 4 is acceptable. The bigger worry is the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, he added.
He referenced Green’s past hundreds as evidence of batting ability. But he stressed recent form has been below expectations.
Form, fixtures and immediate pressure
Green has scored 18 and 2 in his first two outings this season. KKR have lost both of their matches so far.
The franchise faces Punjab Kings next, on Monday. Filmogaz.com will follow the story as the situation develops.
