UAE Thwarts Nine Ballistic Missiles, One Cruise Missile, and 50 Drones Sunday

The UAE’s air defences thwarted nine ballistic missiles in the past 24 hours. They also intercepted one cruise missile and around 50 drones.

The Ministry of Defence reported the strikes on Sunday.

Interception totals since February 28

Since Iran began daily attacks on February 28, UAE air defences say they have carried out extensive interceptions.

  • Ballistic missiles: 507 intercepted
  • Cruise missiles: 24 intercepted
  • Drones: 2,191 intercepted

Impact at Borouge petrochemicals plant

Operations halted at the Borouge petrochemicals plant after multiple fires were reported. Authorities said the blazes followed falling debris from successful interceptions.

No injuries have been reported, and damage assessments are under way.

Location and role of the facility

Borouge sits in the Ruwais industrial complex, more than 200km from Abu Dhabi City. It is a major global producer of polyolefin, used in plastics and pipe production.

Casualties and injuries

Air strikes since the conflict began have killed two military personnel and one Moroccan civilian contracted by the Armed Forces.

Ten other people of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities have also died. Authorities say 217 injuries have been recorded in the UAE during the five-week conflict.
