Franklin Graham Delivers Easter Message on Truth in Divided Minneapolis

Rev. Franklin Graham traveled to Minneapolis to film an Easter special titled “What is Truth?”. He recorded the program on a university campus with ties to his organization. The visit comes as the Twin Cities region faces heightened tensions this year.

Context of unrest and a church invasion

In January, a group of 39 people entered Cities Church in nearby St. Paul. Witnesses said they chanted, “Who needs justice, we need justice,” during the disruption.

The Department of Justice later reported arrests for all 39 individuals. The incident followed protests tied to the deaths of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti at anti-ICE demonstrations in Minneapolis.

Responses from faith leaders

Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, said the nation is deeply divided. He urged viewers to seek truth and hope in the Easter message.

Dr. Alveda King, niece of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., criticized the tactics used against worshippers. She said protest should remain peaceful and not disrupt services.

Program details and production

The 30-minute special includes music from Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels, and Michael W. Smith. Producers chose the University of Northwestern campus for the filming location.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association previously had leadership ties to Minneapolis. Graham once served as president of the same university when it was known as Northwestern College.

Series history and relief work

Last year, Graham’s Easter broadcast came from Southern California after the Palisades fires. That program was titled “Easter from the Ashes.”

Samaritan’s Purse assisted more than 700 Palisades homeowners with property recovery. Earlier Easter specials were filmed in Jerusalem and in Ukraine during conflict.

The special “What is Truth?” will air on the Fox News Channel Easter Sunday, April 5, at 12 p.m. ET. Fox News Digital staff contributed reporting to the coverage.
