The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center issued the watch at 6:20 p.m. EDT. It covered parts of Illinois and ten Indiana counties northwest of Indianapolis.

Storms moved through the region during the 5 p.m. hour on Friday. Observers reported wind gusts near 60 mph and significant hail.
- A short-lived tornado may have occurred in Benton County.
- Hail with a 1.0-inch diameter was reported about 5:13 p.m. west of West Lafayette.
- Around 6:05 p.m., hail near three-quarters of an inch was reported west of West Lafayette.
- Quarter-inch hail was reported about 6:35 p.m. north of West Lafayette.

Wind gusts reached roughly 60 mph in some cells. Multiple hail reports came from areas surrounding West Lafayette.

Local forecasts expect more showers and storms on Saturday. These will arrive ahead of a cold front moving into Indiana.
Isolated strong to severe storms are possible Saturday afternoon and evening. Sunday should be much cooler with breezy winds and partly sunny skies.
