Five-Star Point Guard Brandon McCoy Jr. Commits to Michigan

During halftime of Saturday’s Final Four game, Michigan men’s basketball announced a major recruiting commitment. Brandon McCoy Jr., a five-star point guard from Sierra Canyon High School, revealed his choice on the Fab Five altcast.

Halftime reveal

McCoy unzipped his jacket and showed a blue Michigan Jumpman T-shirt. He added Buffs sunglasses shortly after the reveal. Hosts Jalen Rose and Chris Webber welcomed him and praised Michigan’s family atmosphere.

Recruiting profile

McCoy is listed at 6-foot-5 and is a member of the Class of 2026. He played in this week’s McDonald’s All-American Game. The 247Sports composite ranks him No. 14 overall and No. 3 at his position.

Michigan and Arizona were among his many offers. His final four finalists were Michigan, Miami, Alabama and Arkansas.

Placement in Michigan’s 2026 class

McCoy becomes the sixth member of Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class. The group already includes Quinn Costello, Malachi Brown, Lincoln Cosby, Joseph Hartman and Marcus Moller.

Costello, Brown, Hartman and Moller signed during the early signing period in November. Lincoln Cosby committed on Feb. 10.

This move confirms the five-star point guard Brandon McCoy Jr.’s commitment to Michigan. Coaches and fans will watch how he integrates with the current signees.
