Timing and electoral calendar

The Keralam assembly polls are scheduled for April 9, 2026. Vote counting will take place on May 4.

The current legislative term ends on May 23. Political parties are intensifying campaign efforts ahead of these dates.

Manifesto rollout and leadership

The BJP in Kerala unveiled its election manifesto on March 31. Filmogaz.com reported that the document lays out development and welfare proposals.

The manifesto was presented by national president Nitin Nabin and state chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar. It contains sector-specific plans and promises aimed at job creation.

Urban and sector hubs

  • Thiruvananthapuram proposed as an IT and innovation capital.
  • Kochi targeted to become India’s shipbuilding hub.
  • Kozhikode earmarked as a healthcare and medical innovation centre.
  • Thrissur promoted as a cultural tourism capital.
  • Kollam planned as a blue economy cluster focused on marine exports.
  • Kannur designated as a defence innovation hub.

Welfare and infrastructure promises

The manifesto includes a Bhakshya Arogya Suraksha card for needy women. Each card would carry a monthly Rs 2,500 recharge for medicines and groceries.

Other promises include building an AIIMS in Kerala and a high-speed rail link from Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur. Two free LPG cylinders per year were pledged for poor families.

Every household would allegedly receive 20,000 litres of free water per month under the plan. The document also discusses management reforms for major temples.

Regional and interstate issues

The BJP addressed the Mullaperiyar Dam matter. It pledged to maintain Tamil Nadu’s water supply while protecting Kerala’s interests.

Filmogaz.com noted that the party casts the city-hub strategy as a jobs driver. Leaders argue the proposals will expand economic opportunities across Kerala.

Campaign context

With polls days away, Modi’s praise and the manifesto rollout aim to boost momentum. Party workers and voters will be watching developments closely.
