Country Music Star Faces 20-Year Sentence for DWI and Fentanyl Charges
Tanner Usrey, a 31-year-old country music star from Prosper, Texas, was arrested in Collin County on March 30. He faces a DWI charge and two felony counts tied to fentanyl-derived substances.
Arrest details
Authorities booked Usrey on a possession charge alleging between 4 and 200 grams of fentanyl. Prosecutors also filed a second-degree felony related to fentanyl-derived substances.
This DWI is his second. He was released on a $12,500 bond pending further proceedings.
Legal exposure and penalties
The fentanyl possession range carries potential prison time of up to 20 years. The other drug charge is also a second-degree felony under state law.
As a second DWI, his driver’s license could be suspended for up to two years. The case could expose him to a 20-year sentence if convicted on the larger drug count.
Previous threats and festival incident
Earlier this year, police arrested a 46-year-old man after he allegedly sent death threats to Usrey. Officials said the messages warned the singer not to appear at a South Dakota festival on Feb. 6.
The suspect, identified as Baptiste Brafford, told investigators he remembered sending messages and said he had been intoxicated. He pleaded not guilty to the communication-related threat charge.
Career background
Usrey released his debut album, Crossing Lines, in 2023. His follow-up, These Days, arrived in 2025.
He is best known for the singles Beautiful Lies and Come Back Down. The singer continues to face legal proceedings related to the DWI and fentanyl charges.
