April payment dates for Social Security benefits
Timing depends on when you first started benefits or your birth date. Regular Social Security (non-SSI) payments for April 2026 arrive on these dates.
- Friday, April 3 — People who began receiving benefits before May 1997.
- Wednesday, April 8 — Birthdays from the 1st through the 10th.
- Wednesday, April 15 — Birthdays from the 11th through the 20th.
- Wednesday, April 22 — Birthdays from the 21st through the 31st.

The schedule groups recipients by birthdate and by the start date of benefits. This keeps payments consistent each month.

What is SSI?
Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, is a separate program from Social Security. It helps people with limited income who are aged, blind, or disabled.
Adults usually must earn less than $2,019 per month to qualify. SSI has strict income and asset limits.
About half of SSI recipients also receive Social Security benefits. The two programs are funded differently.
SSI payments in April and the rest of 2026
In April 2026, SSI payments will be made on Wednesday, April 1. The payment falls on the standard monthly date this month.
If the scheduled SSI day falls on a weekend or federal holiday, payments move to the preceding business day. That is standard SSA policy.

- Monday, June 1 — June payment.
- Wednesday, July 1 — July payment.
- Friday, July 31 — August payment.
- Tuesday, Sept. 1 — September payment.
- Thursday, Oct. 1 — October payment.

- Tuesday, Dec. 1 — December payment.
- Thursday, Dec. 31 — January 2027 payment.
