A security alert in Lurgan, County Armagh, forced several homes to be evacuated on Tuesday. Police imposed road closures in the town centre while officers examined a suspicious vehicle.

UUP leader Jon Burrows said on social media the alert followed the discovery of a suspicious vehicle at the entrance to Lurgan PSNI station. He added the incident would have caused significant distress for nearby residents.
