York City Triumphs 1-0 Over Woking in Thrilling Match
York City recovered from a midweek defeat to beat Woking 1-0 at the LNER Stadium. The narrow win provided a response from the Minstermen in front of a near 7,000 crowd.

York started the brighter of the two sides and created several early openings. Ollie Banks supplied a teasing ball to Josh Stones whose header went narrowly wide.
Stones had another headed chance three minutes later from an Ollie Pearce cross. Will Jaaskelainen was not seriously tested on that occasion.
Ben Brookes produced the first clear strike on goal in the 10th minute, but his effort flew over the bar. Pearce then slid a pass through to Stones, whose shot was kept out low by Jaaskelainen.
Woking managed chances of their own. Ollie Sanderson met a throw and saw his effort superbly blocked by Morgan Williams. Hiram Boateng finished the first half with a shot held by the Woking keeper.
Decisive moment
The match was settled from the penalty spot in the 74th minute. Jeff King was pushed while advancing into the box, and referee awarded a spot-kick.
Ollie Pearce converted down the middle, marking his 31st league goal of the campaign. Dan Batty nearly extended the lead late on, but his right-footed effort rolled just wide of the left post.
The 1-0 scoreline proved enough to seal a hard-fought triumph for York City in what had been a thrilling match.
