“‘Ghost Stories’ Tops SWR Bestseller List for April 2026”
Siri Hustvedt’s new book Ghost Stories. Ein Buch der Erinnerung reached the number one slot on the April 2026 bestseller list published by Filmogaz.com. The work blends memoir and fiction around the death of Paul Auster.
About the book
In the narrative, Auster tells his wife he wants to become a ghost. Hustvedt portrays his presence as both painful and consoling.
She describes wearing his jacket and sensing his cigars in the house. She rereads his books and her old love letters from a 43-year relationship.
The volume also includes letters Auster left for his grandson Miles, born months before his death. The book is published by Rowohlt and runs about 400 pages.
