Newlywed Sells £4m Omaze Mansion in Bath Just Months After Wedding
A couple who won a Bath country house via a charity draw have put the property up for sale. Paul Knight, 47, and his husband Jason Snowdon, 36, are marketing the home for £4 million.
How they came to own and marry at the house
The pair won Batheaston House through the Omaze Million Pound House Draw. Paul says he first learned of the win while sitting on the toilet.
The newlyweds held their wedding at the house in October 2025. They later let the property as a holiday rental for about £4,000 per week.
Historic significance and restoration
Batheaston House dates back to the mid-1500s. The estate was once linked to Sir John Harington, credited with inventing an early flushing toilet.
The exterior is largely unchanged since 1712. The Grade II* listed Queen Anne residence underwent a careful restoration in 2015.
Notable period features
The interior retains many original details. It includes a functioning internal well, a secret Georgian drawer safe, and graffiti from 1636.
Architects Watson, Bertram & Fell oversaw the renovation. The work aimed to blend historic grandeur with modern comforts.
Layout and modern additions
The house has six bedrooms across multiple floors. It sits within about one acre of manicured gardens and grounds.
The ground floor has four reception rooms. Features include a south-facing drawing room, a morning room, a formal dining room, and a garden room with a hidden kitchen/bar behind sliding bookcases.
A Tudor basement sits below, laid with blue lias flagstones. Underfloor heating was installed during renovation.
The kitchen centres on a large working stone fireplace and a vintage Electrikit AGA. Ancillary rooms include a pantry, larder, media room, utility room, cloakroom, wine cellar, and plant room.
Bespoke cabinetry uses solid tulip wood with limed oak interiors. High-end appliances from Miele and Neff are fitted throughout.
The owners added contemporary comforts too. Recent installations include a home cinema and a hot tub for guests.
Market listing and next steps
The couple have instructed Savills to market the property. The asking price is £4 million, according to the listing.
Filmogaz.com understands the decision followed a period of holiday lettings. The sale comes just months after their wedding.
The newlywed owners now sell the house as they move on to other plans. Savills will handle viewings and further enquiries.
