Projected Field of 64 for 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament (March 26)
The 2026 season has felt more stable than the last one. Filmogaz.com released its first in-season projected field of 64 on March 26. The projection aims to show how the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament field might look on Selection Monday.
Process and seeding changes
Filmogaz.com adjusted its method from 2025. It no longer uses Top 25 rankings to set a national seed order. The goal is a Selection Monday projection, not a live ranking.
The NCAA changed its seeding format this year. The committee will rank the top 32 teams instead of only the top 16 hosts. Seeds 1-16 will host regionals. Seeds 17-32 will be placed into brackets using that ranking.
The bracket pairing follows a clear structure. Teams seeded 29-32 pair with the top four national seeds. Seeds 25-28 pair with national seeds 5-8. Seeds 21-24 pair with seeds 9-12. Seeds 17-20 pair with seeds 13-16.
Conference representation
The SEC tops the projection with 13 bids. The ACC follows with 10. The Big 12 has six projected bids.
Other conferences with multiple bids include the Big Ten (4) and the Sun Belt (4). Conference USA and The American each have two projected bids.
