Merseyside Areas Plagued by Shootings: ‘One Shot Is Too Many’

Merseyside has seen a cluster of shootings this month. Three separate communities reported gunfire after weeks of relative calm.

Stockbridge Village: daytime shooting on Boode Croft

A man in his 30s was shot in the leg on Boode Croft. He was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.

Neighbours told Filmogaz.com they heard multiple shots just after 7am. One resident described hearing four bangs and then the arrival of numerous emergency vehicles.

Police cordoned off the area around a silver Vauxhall Corsa on a recovery truck. Officers remain in the neighbourhood while they continue inquiries.

Litherland: bike rider targeted, pursuit ends near Aintree

On Monday, a group targeted a man riding a Sur-Ron electric bike on the Pendle estate. They fled in a Range Rover shortly afterwards.

A police pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle collided with a car carrying armed officers near Aintree racecourse. Four suspects have since been charged in connection with that incident.

Toxteth: teenage girl injured on Lime Grove

Officers are also probing a shooting on Lime Grove in Toxteth. A teenage girl sustained leg injuries in that incident.

No arrests have been announced for the Toxteth attack. Investigators say inquiries have traced people leaving a house and heading towards Sefton Park.

Police view and community appeal

Detective Inspector Chris Clark leads firearms inquiries for Merseyside Police. He said the recent shootings are being treated separately and do not currently appear linked.

Clark noted that gun crime in the region had fallen to levels not seen since the late 1990s. He added the phrase “One Shot Is Too Many” to underline the force’s stance on firearms incidents.

Officers stressed the danger of firing weapons in residential streets in daylight. They urged anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to come forward.

How to provide information

Witnesses or anyone with relevant footage should contact Merseyside Police. Quote reference 26000239712 when reporting information.

Alternatively, people can pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers. The force said every detail, however small, will be assessed.
