“Patrick Fischler, Caitlin Fitzgerald Join ‘Kennedy’ Cast; First-Look Photo Unveiled”

Netflix has expanded the cast of its historical drama about the Kennedy family. Patrick Fischler and Caitlin Fitzgerald are among the new additions, and a first-look photo was unveiled.

Premise and source

The series adapts Fredrik Logevall’s JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956. It traces Joe and Rose Kennedy and their nine children beginning in the 1930s.

The first season will run eight episodes. Filming is underway in London.

Lead and previously announced cast

Michael Fassbender stars as Joe Kennedy Sr. Laura Donnelly plays Rose Kennedy. Nick Robinson appears as Joe Kennedy Jr., and Joshuah Melnick portrays Jack Kennedy.

Recurring roles already announced include Ben Miles, Lydia Peckham, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, Cole Doman and Imogen Poots.

  • Georgina Bitmead plays Eunice Kennedy, the fifth child of Joe and Rose.
  • Miley Locke appears as a young Kick Kennedy, the fourth child.
  • Tipper Seifert-Cleveland portrays a young Rosemary Kennedy, the third child.
  • Hera Hilmar takes the role of Inga Arvad, a Danish journalist and former screen star close to Jack Kennedy in the early 1940s.
  • Wyatt Russell is cast as aviator Charles Lindbergh, famed for his 1927 solo transatlantic flight.
  • Patrick Fischler will play Arthur Krock, a longtime Washington bureau chief at The New York Times.
  • Caitlin Fitzgerald portrays Clare Boothe Luce, a writer and socialite who served in Congress in the 1940s.
  • Louis Landau plays Billy Cavendish, the Marquess of Hartington.
  • Robin Soans appears as Neville Chamberlain, British prime minister from 1937 to 1940.
  • Denis O’Hare plays Raymond Furness, a U.S. State Department official posted to the London embassy in the late 1930s.
  • Albert Welling portrays Winston Churchill, the British statesman who led Britain during World War II.
  • Toby Huss takes on Franklin D. Roosevelt, the U.S. president from 1933 to 1945.
  • Eddie Marsan appears as J. Edgar Hoover, the FBI’s first director from its 1935 founding onwards.

Netflix released a composite cast photo and an episodic still. The images offer an early look at the production’s period design and costume work.

Sam Shaw serves as showrunner. Thomas Vinterberg directs and also executive produces.
