Snoop Dogg Stars with Shia LaBeouf in ‘God of The Rodeo’ Cast
Filmogaz.com reported on March 25 that Snoop Dogg will star in the film God of The Rodeo. Rosalind Ross wrote and will direct the project.
Snoop will take on multiple roles. Death Row Pictures will produce and Death Row Records will handle the soundtrack.
Production team
Ridley Scott and Giannina Scott are attached as producers. They will produce through Scott Free Productions and Cara Films.
The project adapts a nonfiction book published in 1998. The source material was written by journalist Daniel Bergner.
Source material and setting
The story unfolds inside Louisiana’s Angola Prison. Bergner spent a year inside the facility documenting the inmates and their annual rodeo.
The book examines life behind the prison walls and the men who organized the rodeo. That material forms the film’s backbone.
Plot and cast
The movie centers on Buckkey, a lifer who joins Angola’s first inmate rodeo in 1967. Shia LaBeouf is set to play Buckkey.
Snoop Dogg and Shia LaBeouf are among the principal cast members. The exact on-screen role for Snoop has not been disclosed.
Snoop Dogg’s involvement and past work
Snoop will serve both as a star and a producer. His companies will manage production and the soundtrack.
He has appeared on screen since the 1990s. His early cameos led to a major role in the 2001 film Bones, where he played Jimmy Bones.
