Six Arrested in Solihull Amid County Lines Crackdown Week
Six people were arrested in Solihull as police intensified activity with the County Lines taskforce. The action formed part of a wider crackdown week targeting drug dealing and exploitation.
Arrests and seizures
Officers made six arrests for offences including possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs. Other charges included cultivation of cannabis and possession of offensive weapons.
A 19-year-old and an 18-year-old were detained on suspicion of intent to supply Class B drugs. Both were also suspected of carrying a zombie knife.
A 27-year-old man was arrested after officers recovered a large quantity of Class B drugs. At a Smiths Wood warrant, several mature cannabis plants were seized and intelligence gathered.
In Chelmsley Wood, a warrant led to the confiscation of several bags of Class A drugs. Officers also removed a dangerous dog from the property.
Stop searches and local sweeps
Targeted stop searches took place in known hotspots for antisocial behaviour and drug dealing. Shirley and St Alphege officers carried out weapon and drug sweeps across local parks.
Prevention and safeguarding
School pupils received VR workshops about the dangers of County Lines, knife crime, and antisocial behaviour. The sessions aimed to raise awareness and support safer choices.
Staff at local academy trusts took part in training on professional curiosity. The training focused on asking the right questions to identify possible child exploitation.
Officers worked with Solihull Council to visit several care homes. The visits aimed to safeguard potentially vulnerable children and share information with staff.
Police leadership and partnership approach
Chief Superintendent Richard Harris, who oversees local policing in Solihull, emphasised prevention and partnership. He noted teams were pursuing long-term problem-solving alongside enforcement.
Harris highlighted the value of partner agencies in spotting issues and supporting people after custody. He said collaborative work helps guide individuals away from lives of criminality.
