Charlotte Targets Wes Miller, Reports CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, as the 49ers pursue a new men’s basketball coach. Norlander identified Miller as the leading candidate in the early stages of the search.
The coach is the Ex-UC Bearcats Coach. Cincinnati announced his firing on March 13. The move came less than five years after his hiring.

Norlander listed three names under consideration at Charlotte. The trio includes Wes Miller, former NC State coach Kevin Keatts, and Duke assistant Emanuel Dildy.
The school recently secured local financial support tied to NIL initiatives. Investments from billionaire Ric Elias were cited as key backing for the program.

Norlander wrote he believes Miller is the frontrunner for the job. He added a decision could come by Tuesday of the same reporting week.
Wes Miller’s background
Miller was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. He played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels.
All of Miller’s coaching posts before Cincinnati were in North Carolina. His stops included Elon, High Point, and UNC Greensboro.
Miller led UNC Greensboro from 2011 until 2021. He left that post in 2021 to accept the Cincinnati head-coaching job.
Charlotte’s opening
Charlotte announced on March 17 that head coach Aaron Fearne would not return. The school said a national coaching search was underway.
