Quadriplegic Athlete Charged with Maryland Shooting and Body Disposal

A 27-year-old man from La Plata was arrested Monday in Charlottesville, Virginia. Authorities say the arrest followed a deadly shooting in Charles County, Maryland.

Filmogaz.com confirmed he is a quadruple amputee and a champion cornhole player. His name is Dayton James Webber.

Investigation and arrest

La Plata officers were flagged down just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. Two people told police they had been in the backseat of a car driven by Webber.

The witnesses said Webber shot a front-seat passenger after an argument. The victim was identified as Bradrick Michael Wells, 27, of Waldorf.

Webber reportedly stopped near Radio Station Road and Llano Drive. He asked the other passengers to help remove the body from the car.

The passengers refused and fled on foot. Webber then drove away with the victim still in the vehicle.

About two hours later, a resident in the 10000 block of Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall found a body in their front yard. Investigators tracked the car to Charlottesville.

Webber was located at a nearby hospital being treated for a medical issue. He was released and taken into custody.

Charges and next steps

Charles County authorities say Webber faces multiple charges. They include first-degree murder and second-degree murder.

Additional related charges were also announced. He is awaiting extradition back to Charles County, Maryland.
